Aunt Jean’s Flying Academy

Have you ever felt like a baby bird, perched on a tiny limb, not-so-ready to take that first leap off the branch, and hope your wings will work? How often have we let fear rule in our decision making? (“Are you serious? You want me to JUMP?”)

Take a gander at this week’s vlog and find out how taking “Flying in the Face of Fear” lessons at Aunt Jean’s Flying Academy helped.  Then leave a comment and tell us what you have been fearful of in the past, and how you moved past it, or what you are fearful of now.   I’m posting below some great quotes and verses to help us “be willing, expectant and brave!”  🙂

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;  your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”  Psalm 23:3-5

“Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point, which means, at the point of highest reality.  A chastity or honesty or mercy which yields to danger will be chaste or honest or merciful only on conditions.  Pilate was merciful till it became risky.”  CS Lewis

“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  Romans 8:15

“God’s way will not lack God’s supply.”  Hudson Taylor

About lauriebarkercopeland

I'm just like you, but totally unique. We have things in common, but we are all God's one-of-a-kind creatures. I enjoy finding The Funny in life when it gets messy. And we all know how life can get messy, right? Some of the things I love: God, family, friends, storytelling, community, nature, the arts, beauty, travel, fun and games, learning, the study of the personalities, teenagers, acting, writing and missions. More specifically: the mountains, the beach, breathing clean air, traveling to new places, experiences, deep conversations, appreciating the minute in nature, lunching with girlfriends, practicing sensing, predicting trends, taking a few risks along the way. I hate routine, so starting (and keeping up) this vlog is risky for me...but I love community (and a few risks), so I'm going for it! I hope you join me and we can have some Serious Fun together!

  1. Hadn’t visited your blog for a while so I decided to check out what’s new. Unfortunately, my computer filters don’t permit any of your videos to get through. I hope you will continue to post some texts from time to time so I can at least read what you’re up to creatively/artistically. I still have the jewelery you made, but as you requested, I dont wear it!

    • Jack,
So I tried to do one this week, where you could read and participate. And you done good! 🙂 And I’m so glad you are NOT wearing that jewlery!!! (haha!) Can’t wait to sing to each other soon!!!

  2. Fear is not our friend…but we nurture it like one, when we state it and restate it. “I ‘m afraid of…I don’t do this because….that’s too scary…oh I could never ….” Fear becomes a part of us like a comfortable habit. Fear is bondage. It stops us from really living…from enjoying all that GOD has for us. Fear decieves us. It cause our body to break down…how can it be good? It goes against the very things GOD wants us to do and has for us. Our best chance of change is to find out what GOD says about it. HIS word says in 2 Tim.’ GOD did not give us a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind.
Psa. 23 is great to see GODs perspective. HIS ways and promises show that HE is with us in all things…and that the JOY of HIM… deep down within us …is our strength! Neh. 8:10. Coming out of fear is faith in action…it is a walk.
Jesus is our friend who will never leave us. I have walked through years of fear, from dental visits as Laurie mentioned…to driving on the highway after a tragedy in my family involving a fatal car crash. (yes I know every back road in Orlando!) yes-years of fears and tears but I am now… an overcomer!! -PTL! My whole driving experience has change from gripping the wheel and teeth clenching, to praise and worship time- I enjoy the drive!.. and …I have made friends at the dental office lol. Imagine that…they really are good people even behind the green curtain ! These are just a couple of examples of how fear can affect us and how we can purpose to allow the LORD to redirect things HIS way. GOD is not about fear. HE loves us and will not leave us.
The LORD is with me in all things ….how can I be afraid? ~ LL

      • YES you have LLL! .. from us getting lost together lol… panicing on the road .. to me being able to come visit with you. Good times. Being a part of it …you can esp. appreciate my little ‘comment’ or ah … testimony.!

  3. Does anyone else find great humor at my picture on this particular vlog? I look drunk. Since I’m not a drinker, it couldn’t be that. Ah, yes, I was still feeling the effect of novocaine, after getting a tooth yanked out by it’s roots. And it shows. I look rough. 🙂
