Taking a Break…

Standard

Hey friends and family,
Just wanted to drop a quick little note to let you know I haven’t fallen off Planet Earth and landed in a Black Hole of Cyber space somewhere. But I have decided to take a break from vlogging due to some difficult issue that have arisen. Yes, it’s true, I’ve been sick for over 5 weeks now with this flu-monster (now downgraded to a cough and hoarse voice), but that is all. Nothing terrible to report on that front.

I just find that I have to put all my energies right now on these difficult issues. Sometimes life is just plain hard, wouldn’t you agree? Sure glad I have Jesus to lean on.  The issues are nothing life-threatening or even relationship-threatening. But I’ve gotten to the point I need to consolidate and focus on a few important matters.

So thanks for understanding. It won’t be forever. Just for awhile. In the mean time, if you think about us, please pray! I’ll be praying for and missing you, my cyber family!

Vitameatavegamin!

Standard

Had a crazy day today…Don’t think I’ll be getting to the vlog this week. But I’ll leave you with a fun and famous monologue from the one and only Lucille Ball.

Lucy: (Early rehearsal)
“Hello friends. I’m your Vitameatavegamin girl. Are you tired, run-down, listless? Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular? The answer to all your problems is in this little bottle. Yes. Vitameatavegain. Vitameatavegamin contains vitamins, meat, vegtables and minerals. With Vitameatagegamin you can spoon your way to health. All you do is take a big tablesppon after every meal. It’s so tasty, too: it tastes like candy. So why don’t you join the thousand of happy, peppy people and buy a gret big bottle of Vitameatavegamin tomorrow? That’s Vitameatavegamin.

(Later rehearsal…after having a bit too much of Vitameatavegamin, which secretly has something drunk-inducing in it.) Told in only the way Lucy can:
Well, I’m your Vita-vega-vittival girl. Are you tired? Run-down? Listless? Do you pop out at parties? Are you unpoopular? Well, are you? The answer to all your problems is in this little ol’ bottle…Vitameatavegemin. That’s it. Vitameatavegemin contains vitamins, meat, meg-e-tables, and vinerals. So why don’t you join the thousands of happy , peppy people and get a great big bottle of Vita-veaty-vega-meany-minie-moe-amin. I’ll tell you what you have to do. You have to take a whole tablesppon after every meal. It’s so tasty, too: it’s just like candy. So everybody get a bottle of…this stuff.

God is in Control

Standard

I am not happy about the election outcome. (But if you voted for Obama, please continue reading anyway. This note speaks to all of us.) I knew a week before the election, that this was going to be my vlog for today–no matter what. Yes, God is still in control of the universe. And no matter what, God calls us to pray. So permit me to ask everyone to continue to pray for our nation:
Pray for our leaders
Pray for the economy
Pray for the job situation
Pray for those who have lost their homes
Pray for those who are still fighting to keep their homes
Pray for the health care system
Pray for our relationship with foreign countries
Most of all, pray for the hearts of our people. That we will become a united nation under GOD, with hearts that acknowledge, accept and cling to the fact that Jesus is our ultimate leader.

Favorite Childhood Birthday Memories

Standard

I had dental surgery on Tuesday, and was on pain meds Wednesday. As much as some of you would be willing to pay a pretty penny for a good laugh seeing me talk woozy-like, my brain can’t even come up with something interesting to put down on video! Therefore, I’m jotting down just a few important words this week. 🙂

1) Wednesday was my daughter’s 22nd birthday! I actually taped a video on Wednesday, but I was loopy. Happy birthday, Kailey!!! I’m proud of the woman you have become. 🙂

2) WELCOME new followers from the WINNING WOMEN CONFERENCE! It was so nice to meet or see you all again. So glad you can join us here, and hope you feel at home. Drop a comment and share this link on facebook!

Speaking of birthdays, let’s discuss a favorite childhood birthday memory.
Mine? Well, my birthday is September 1st, which falls right before school starts up north. Both my parents were teachers, and were not paid all summer. So it was a little tough every year to come up with lots of presents or a party right at the most lean of times. My birthdays were simple, but filled with lots of love! (Corny, but true.) One year, as I was getting a little older, my mom said I could invite my friends over for a birthday party. Nowadays, a party is no big deal. But to a 14 year old girl who had never had one before, it was huge! So my friends Lilly, Cindy, Jean, Sheila, Laurie, and Cindy came over. I remember all of us crammed in, eating around my picnic table. They spent the night and we giggled through most of it. No x-box, DDR, movies on dvd or iphones. Just good ole fashioned girl-time! I think we played the Dating Game board game–is that the name? Where there are four guys to choose from? And the nerdy one was named Poindexter…I remember because I always got him. 🙂 Funny how big a deal this simple little party was for me.

Now it’s your turn to spill it–what is one of your favorite childhood birthday memories?
